Alex advises clients in contentious matters across the full range of IP rights. He has extensive experience of patent litigation before the High Court and Court of Appeal relating to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecommunications and high-street consumer goods. He has also been involved in the coordination of multi-jurisdictional litigation, including preparation for and attendance at trials and hearings in Oslo, Prague, Bucharest and the European Patent Office. He has drafted patent infringement and validity opinions relating to pharmaceuticals, food technology and industrial processes.

Alex’s contentious work in the soft IP field has included acting for a claimant before the High Court and Court of Appeal in litigation concerning a novel point of design law, acting for parties in trade mark, copyright and passing off actions before the High Court and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and advising various clients involved in disputes over software, trade names and logos, confidential information, product packaging, fashion goods, perfumes, dental hygiene products and television advertisements.
