Powell Gilbert, one of the UK’s leading law firms specialising in intellectual property litigation and advisory work, has appointed two new solicitors – Dr Adam Gamsa and Dennis Waller – to its renowned team of IP specialists.

Adam joins from IP and media firm Field Fisher Waterhouse, where his experience has included work on major patent disputes in the pharmaceutical sector, anti-counterfeiting campaigns involving customs seizure, and advising on data protection issues. He also has a robust scientific background – a hallmark of Powell Gilbert – with both master’s and doctoral degrees in physics from the University of Oxford.

Similarly, having a strong scientific background, Dennis boasts a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Cambridge, further expanding the team’s roster of technical expertise. He joins Powell Gilbert from Hogan Lovells, having gained wide-ranging experience in patent litigation. In particular, he has been involved in major, multijurisdictional actions within the pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries.

Taken together, these new appointments bring the total number of fee-earners at Powell Gilbert to 38, representing nearly a four-fold increase in size since its founding in 2007.

Dr Penny Gilbert, Partner, commented on the new hires:

“Adam and Dennis are both outstanding recruits with top-notch legal experience and exceptional technical expertise. They will no doubt add to the firm’s intellectual strength and depth further supporting our ability to conduct first-rate work on even the most complex IP issues.

We look forward to having them on board, and welcome their contributions to further cementing our place among Europe’s top legal advisers in the IP arena.”
