A new webinar featuring PG Partner Dr Tess Waldron exploring the impact of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) ahead of its expected launch in June 2023, is now available to watch online here.
The webinar, which was hosted by Gwilym Roberts, patent attorney and Chair at Kilburn & Strode, examines the impact of the UPC on businesses worried about Non-Practicing Entities (NPEs).
As guest speaker for the episode, Tess addresses the important questions that many implementers and originators have about the prospect of centralised European patent litigation, including whether the UPC will be NPE-friendly as some have suggested, whether it will lead to an increase in litigious activity, and the best strategies for implementers to adopt.
Along with her colleagues at PG, Tess has been involved in some of the most complex and high-profile IP cases before the UK courts in recent years, particularly in Tess’s case in relation to Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and FRAND litigation.
The webinar is part of a series of events being held by Kilburn & Strode in the run up to the UPC’s expected launch next summer.
The webinar can be watched on demand here. For more information on Unified Patents, the UPC and how they might impact your business, visit our designated UPC page on the Powell Gilbert website here.
