Top-ranked IP firm announces the promotion of Tom Oliver to the partnership
 
 LONDON – Specialist IP law firm Powell Gilbert LLP today announces the promotion of Tom Oliver to its partnership, increasing the total number of partners at the firm to eleven.
 
Tom joined Powell Gilbert in 2010 as an associate before being promoted to the position of senior associate in 2015. During his time at the firm, he has represented clients in the English courts – the Patents Court, Court of Appeal and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court – and has also gained extensive experience in devising multi-jurisdictional patent litigation strategies with legal teams across Europe and North America.
 
Tom has advised clients on patent disputes spanning a wide range of sectors and technologies, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices, wind turbines, computer programming, smart phones and FRAND licensing. In addition to his patent litigation work, Tom advises across the full spectrum of IP rights, including trade mark oppositions and infringement proceedings, confidential information, copyright and passing off as well as assisting clients in relation to parallel trade strategies. He has also been involved in judicial review proceedings regarding the domestic implementation of a decision of the European Patent Office.
 
His appointment to Powell Gilbert’s partnership follows that of Siddharth Kusumakar in 2019 and marks the firm’s continued growth.
